From San Gimignano follow the signs to Certaldo, Castelfiorentino, San Miniato, Lucca and then continue to Borgo a Mozzano, Gallicano until you get to Vergemoli. The Grotta del Vento is located in the heart of the Garfagnana, and it is situated in the mountain range of the Apuan Alps, and it is one of the most important tourist caves all over Europe. It consists in three tourist routes which last 1, 2 or 3 hours and two adventure trails. The Grotta del Vento takes its origins from the Karst and it takes its name from the strong wind blowing in here, the trails allow you to enjoy all the wonders of the subterranean world of stalactites and stalagmites, lava polychrome, alabaster draperies, crystal-brimmed lakes and underground streams
